Amanda Bynes will play the student assistant of Hary Connick Jr's character, Dennis Slamon. The film is based on the book about the UCLA doctor who developed the breast cancer drug Herceptin.

Angie Harmon, Bernadette Peters, Swoosie Kurtz, Regina King, Jennifer Coolidge, Trudie Styler, Tammy Blanchard, John Benjamin Hickey Paula Cale and Harry Connick Jr. round out the cast.
